Work: A Night in Venice

A night in the cheerful undemanding: lovers of Strauss, Venice and period costumed slapstick will get their money’s worth. Oh how lovely to behold are not only the charming women in this operetta, but also Hinrich Horstkotte's costumes.

Uninspiriert inszeniert, doch mit Verve musikalisch umgesetzt ist die Strauß'sche Operette zwar kein Highlight, beschert aber dennoch einen unterhaltsamen Abend. 

Nonobstant un contexte social lyonnais très marqué par la grève, y compris à l’Opéra, on finit par accéder à la fête : légèreté, sens de la répartie, pétillantes envolées lyriques et chorégraphiques – voilà comment se présente la Nuit à Venise du « Roi de la Valse », Johann Strauss fils, à l'Opéra de Lyon.
