Work: Concerto for 2 keyboards and strings in C minor, BWV1060

Imaginative Bach and an exciting new work by Dobrinka Tabakova played by the Amsterdam Sinfonietta with pianists Ferhan and Ferzan Önder.

In a rare appearance outside London in the UK, world-renowned Russian violinist Viktoria Mullova, harpsichordist Ottavio Dantone and the Italian ensemble Accademia Bizantina took to the stage at St George’s Bristol to perform four Baroque concertos by J.S. Bach.

Winter in the Swiss Alps: freezing temperatures and snow outside. A modest seventeenth-century church of elegant proportions, painted plasterwork and wood panelling. A dozen crack musicians, specialists in baroque music.

The first fingers of the wintry season came to Canterbury on Monday 8 November, and the Eden-Stell Guitar Duo’s Lunchtime Concert at University of Kent’s Gulbenkian Theatre was the perfect antidote to the chill.The programme opened with Bach’s arrangement of Marcello’s Oboe Concerto in D, re-arranged by Chris Stell for guitar duet.
