Work: Mandolin Concerto in C major, RV 425

Sean Shibe's refined guitar and the vivid playing of the London Mozart Players made for an engaging evening in the intimate setting of St Martin-in-the-Fields.

An enlightening concert: a barely known composer esteemed in his day, an instrument we rarely hear in Baroque concertos and an early classical work for four, yes, four soloists.

The day after the Winter Solstice and Wigmore Hall was bathed in an Italian summer trip to La Serenissima.
