The first four notes are perhaps the most famous in music history. Whether Ludwig van Beethoven really wanted to have fate knock at the door with the famous “ta-ta-ta-taaa” at the beginning of his 5th Symphony, as his secretary reported, remains open to question. Nevertheless, the composer succeeded in creating a highly dramatic masterpiece with his so-called “Fate Symphony”’ which draws the listener into the heart of the action right from the beginning and leads them into radiant light at the very end. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Piano Concerto in D minor, K. 466, with its emotionality and personal tone, is also a milestone in music history. The young Austrian pianist Lukas Sternath, winner of the first prize of the renowned ARD Music Competition, will immerse himself in these powerful emotional worlds together with the Camerata Salzburg under Antonello Manacorda, after the audience has already embarked on an exciting musical journey with Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s concert overture “Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage”.
