Piano virtuosity and profound emotion—these are the hallmarks of every stage performance by the remarkable Bulgarian musician Ludmil Angelov. For decades now, he has continued to explore the creative world of his favourite composer, Frédéric Chopin. The renowned pianist’s new recital program at the European Music Festival combines several of the great Polish Romantic’s masterpieces with other iconic works from the piano repertoire: Sonata No. 8 “Pathétique” and Sonata No. 14 “Moonlight” by Ludwig van Beethoven, and the emotional Dumka, Op. 59, by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

Ludmil Angelov’s concert career has taken him across five continents, with performances at prestigious venues such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Musikverein in Vienna, La Scala in Milan, Lincoln Center in New York, the Moscow Conservatory Hall, and many others. Among his most significant honours are the Gloria Artis medal from the Polish Ministry of Culture for his contributions to the promotion of Polish music worldwide, the Grand Prize of the City of Varna for his lifetime achievement, the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Isabella the Catholic, awarded by King Felipe VI of Spain, the Golden Age (necklace) from the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture, as well as the Order of Sts. Cyril and Methodius (necklace) for exceptional contributions to the fields of culture and the arts, presented by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria.
