XXII Certamen de Nuevas Voces Ciudad de Sevilla

There are at least two factors to consider in a singing competition. The first is the overall level of the participating voices. The second is the professional projection which a competition offers. Since its beginnings, 22 years ago now, the essence of the “Certamen de Nuevas Voces Ciudad de Sevilla” has been its quest for rigor and quality. With years of experience and consistency, the initiative of the “Asociación Sevillana de Amigos de la Ópera” has made this competition one of the most prestigious in Spain and a reference point in a complex ecosystem of opera.

Once again, the Teatro de la Maestranza relives the extraordinary atmosphere of the grand finale, the definitive moment in a process which begins with dozens of voices from around the world who demonstrate their talent in front of a highly specialized jury. The strict selection process limits this moment of glory to a small group of young singers who, along with the pressure of the moment, sing in front of an audience. In the end, it will be the audience who judge and have the last word as their budding careers progress. This is a date where there is no room for divos or posturing: only emotion and singing have their place.
