Experience the power of Janáček’s dramatic Glagolitic Mass as the Festival Chorus and Philharmonia Orchestra bring this magnificent work to life. Listen out for joyful fanfares, vibrant colour, and thrilling organ solos played by young American virtuoso Katelyn Emerson. Gloucester Cathedral’s new organ takes centre stage in this evening’s concert, and Poulenc’s famous organ concerto perfectly showcases this wonderful instrument. Alongside these works sits Elgar’s fabulous Cockaigne Overture, a sparkling musical portrait of London ending in a blaze of orchestral glory.
