This exciting programme opens with Enescu’s pastoral RomanianRhapsody No.1, followed by Grieg’s immortal and ever-popular Piano Concerto, performed by outstanding pianist Alexandra Dariescu, who will remain onstage to celebrate Lipatti’s Centenary in a performance of his graceful Concertino in Classical Style.
The concert will conclude with Tchaikovsky’s dramatic Francesca da Rimini, which illustrates the tragic tale of Francesca, the beauty who appeared in Dante’s Divine Comedy.

Writer and Lipatti researcher Orlando Murrin will talk about Dinu Lipatti’s legacy, including new information about his three visits to Britain, his composing career and the recent discovery of the only known film footage of the great pianist.
