In a recital that covers a kaleidoscopic range of colours and styles, Beatrice Rana makes her Barbican recital debut with some of the most demanding and dazzling music written for piano.

Evocative and hypnotic piano pieces by Castelnuovo-Tedesco and Debussy move from avenues of cypresses to moonlit terraces, before the western wind whisks us away to an enchanted island. Rana then brings her formidable interpretive skill to Liszt’s monumental B minor Sonata: one of the most original and forward-looking piano sonatas of the 19th century.

Revered for the intelligence and depth of her interpretations, Beatrice Rana is sought-after the world over for playing that ‘has a kind of Orphic seductiveness, a transcendent lightness of touch’ (The Times). Rana’s gift for weaving gossamer textures is to the fore in a programme that blurs dream and reality.
