Two worlds, one concert. The tension of a world in crisis resonates through Haydn’s Missa in angustiis, later known as the Nelson Mass. Written in 1798, during a time of war and uncertainty, this music is both urgent and hopeful. Powerful orchestral passages and haunting choral sections convey threat and unrest, while intimate moments make room for resilience and trust.
This is juxtaposed with Mozart’s Requiem, a timeless work that gains new meaning with every performance. Without direct conflict, but with profound reflection on mortality, solace, and humanity. It is precisely in its unfinished nature that it remains open, vulnerable, and recognisable.
Led by Lionel Meunier, Camerata Salzburg and Vox Luminis bring this music to life with clarity and depth. The result is an evening that balances tension and tranquillity, which will linger long after the final note.
