Due to disruption caused by travel restrictions and quarantine requirements, François-Xavier Roth and Patricia Kopatchinskaja have regrettably had to withdraw from this concert. This has necessitated a change of artists and programme.
The LSO is very grateful to Ryan Wigglesworth for agreeing to step in to conduct, and to violinist Nicola Benedetti, who will now be appearing as soloist.
This concert will now feature Mark Simpson’s highly acclaimed Violin Concerto, the first performance of the piece to a live audience, following its world premiere online in April on Marquee TV. George Stevenson's Vanishing City will also receive its world premiere, in addition to the unchanged performances of Charlie Piper’s Flēotan, Ayanna Witter-Johnson’s Fairtrade? and Betsy Jolas’ Well Met Suite. The planned UK premiere of Francisco Coll’s Violin Concerto, written for Patricia Kopatchinskaja, has been postponed.
