The Philharmonia Orchestra perform works by Stravinsky inspired by Greek mythology.
This concert offers the rare opportunity to hear Stravinsky's alluring melodrama based on the Homeric hymn to the goddess Persephone, retold in collaboration with the French novelist and poet André Gide.
Two further ancient Greek deities, Apollo and Orpheus, take to the stage as a result of the extraordinary and enduring creative partnership between Stravinsky and the choreographer George Balanchine, inspiring music of great subtlety and exquisite beauty.
Royal Festival Hall at 6pm. Pre-concert talk. Free.
