Continuing the Shakespeare theme this season, Tchaikovsky’s Hamlet Overture is the curtain-opener for a concert that also includes Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini (with soloist Stephen Hough) and Prokofiev’s Third Symphony.

A belated touch of demonic fire was a welcome ingredient to last night's Prom with a compelling interpretation of Prokofiev's Third Symphony, based on material from his opera The Fiery Angel.
