On Tuesday 18 September 2018 at 7.30pm, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, the Monteverdi Choir and Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique will perform Verdi’s Messa da Requiem at London’s Westminster Cathedral. This unique event is in support of Cancer Research UK and dedicated to the memory of our late Stage Manager Richard Fitzgerald, who worked with MCO for more than fifteen years. He sadly passed away following a short battle with lung cancer in August 2016.

This will be a very special evening which will celebrate Richard’s work, and the stage management profession more generally - the unsung heroes of the performing world, whose tireless efforts behind the scenes make our work possible.

The Monteverdi Choir and ORR will be at full strength for this much-anticipated performance with more than 140 musicians taking to the stage. It will also be a chance to experience the thrill and variety of Verdi's masterpiece in a historically-informed performance on period instruments. They will be joined by a stellar line-up of internationally renowned soloists: Corinne Winters (soprano), Ann Hallenberg (mezzo-soprano), Edgaras Montvidas (tenor) and Gianluca Buratto (bass).

The concert will mark 20 years since MCO’s last London performance of this monumental work – and will be the only UK date on a European tour that will visit a roster of major venues; opening at the National Forum of Music in Wroclaw to celebrate the anniversary of the birth of Poland.
