Enchanting anonymous lyrics, many perhaps written by Dowland himself, and music that strikes the heart with the intense expression of love’s sorrows and life’s joys flow from The Second Booke of Songs or Ayres. The collection’s 22 songs and one instrumental piece contain some of Dowland’s best-known works, ‘I saw my lady weep’, ‘Flow my tears’ and ‘Fine knacks for ladies’ among them.
