Bach’s final masterpiece, the Mass in B Minor captivates with its structure and choral power. A masterwork elevated by outstanding performers.
Composed in the final months of the German composer’s life, this mythical piece is full of mystery—its inner workings have fascinated musicians for centuries. A towering monument of Baroque music through its magnificent choral writing, the Mass in B Minor achieves a perfect balance between abstraction and the emotional power of its stirring vocal lines.
For this cornerstone of sacred repertoire—newly added to the choir’s repertoire—Laurence Equilbey brings together Insula orchestra and the accentus choir with the Monteverdi Choir, founded by John Eliot Gardiner.
This concert is interpreted on period instruments.
