‘All men become brothers’: for the year commemorating the 200th anniversary of Beethoven’s death, his monumental Ninth Symphony will be performed under the baton of the internationally celebrated conductor Christian Thielemann with a world-class ensemble of soloists. The performance of this mighty work, premiered in 1824 in Vienna, with the visionary message of Schiller’s famous Ode to Joy in the final movement is not only a supreme listening experience, but at a time of increasingly violent conflicts presents a powerful symbol for shared values and unity in diversity.
