| Camila Mandillo | Sopran |
| Filipe Gaio Pereira | Klavier |
The Belgium-based Portuguese soprano Camila Mandillo has attracted attention for her ability to interpret both early and contemporary music. She has been nominated by Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian in Lisbon, Bozar in Brussels and Casa da Música in Porto. Here, she performs with pianist Filipe Gaio Pereira, a versatile musician with a particular interest in vocal and contemporary repertoire.
The richly contrasting programme opens with music by Messiaen and concludes with Ligeti’s dazzlingly virtuosic Mysteries of the Macabre. In between, we hear a wide-ranging selection spanning several centuries: Schubert’s well-known Die Forelle, Rossini’s La danza, and music by, among others, Monteverdi, Satie, Rameau, Poulenc and the 20th-century giant Luciano Berio.
ECHO Rising Stars is a unique and forward-looking collaboration between Europe’s leading concert halls within the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO). Each year, a select group of young artists and ensembles is chosen and given the opportunity to tour internationally and meet a wide audience. Experience shows that many of these musicians quickly go on to establish international careers.
