The world-renowned Vienna Philharmonic opens its three-concert residency with a program of Schoenberg and R. Strauss. The concert begins with Verklärte Nacht, a powerful early creation by one of Vienna’s most influential 20th-century composers. The second half of the program features Strauss’s tone poem Eine Alpensinfonie, in which an eventful Alpine mountain ascent is depicted across 22 continuous musical sections.
