J S Bach's opus ultimum, the Mass in B Minor, was also the opus ultimum of the year-long Bach Unwrapped series at Kings Place. Unfortunately, it proved not to be the crowning glory it might have been.

Ambitious ACO production surveys 42,000 years of music

Marketed under the tagline: “42,000 years of music – 213 works – 1 performance”, Timeline is a hyper-ambitious production. At times history lesson, at times creative mash-up, it was both a highly stimulating and a frustrating experience, with outstanding performances from the instrumentalists and singers.

Bachs Matthäus-Passion mit Herreweghe in Zürich

Whelan und der Monteverdi Choir mit Bachs Johannes-Passion

Bachs Matthäus-Passion in der Isarphilharmonie München

Auch ohne barockes Altarretabel wurde die Aufführung von Bachs Matthäus-Passion durch Chor & Orchester Bach Collegium München in der Isarphilharmonie zum bewegenden Erlebnis.

Timothy Robson

We are saddened to learn of the death of Tim Robson, a long-time Bachtrack contributor (2012-21). Tim was an organist in Cleveland, Ohio and his repertoire extended to all musical periods, with a special interest in contemporary music. As a blogger he was a regular contributor to ClevelandClassical.com. In his parallel career as a librarian, Tim was Associate Director for Academic Engagement at the Kelvin Smith Library of Case Western Reserve University. Our condolences to his family.
