At the Barbican, Cecilia Bartoli and Rolando Villazón entertained a festive audience in a concert of bel canto highlights, determined not to let a cold put a chill on the evening.

The Mozart and bel canto program that Cecilia Bartoli and Rolando Villazón have concocted for their European tour this December is so packed with greatest hits that it feels like a festive gift. 

Bogotá has plenty of superb artists in its mammoth Mozart-fest, but there can be no finer exponents of Viennese style than the Vienna Chamber Orchestra. 

A significantly smaller than usual audience was present for the SCO’s ‘Symphonic Opera’ concert, the finale of its St Andrews season. In the days leading up to thee concert, there was some disgruntlement from people about the programme – “Another Haydn symphony” was a common complaint, the Orchestra having put on several in St Andrews recently.
