Blazing recital from Leila Josefowicz at Wigmore Hall

Appearing at Milton Court, Leila Josefowicz enclosed three short utterances from the 20th century with two works by Schubert. After a shaky start to the evening, Josefowicz turned out an impressive performance full of fire and flair, excelling in Stravinsky’s Duo concertant.

Familiar and unfamiliar Sibelius, a coruscating violin concerto and a recent score by Caroline Shaw are the elements of Dalia Stasevska’s noteworthy debut.

Stepping in for an indisposed Marta Gardolińska, the guest conductor leads a virtuosic performance of Lutosławski’s Concerto for Orchestra paired with Leila Josefowičz playing Szymanowski’s Second Violin Concerto.
