Who would think that a symphony concert featuring Schoenberg and Dutilleux would sell out? Well, it did – in Tokyo. Bravo to the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra for its daring programming.

A master at clever programming, Maestro Iván Fischer surrounded Dutilleux with well-known pieces by Debussy, Ravel and Satie as part of the week-long French Days segment of the Bridging Europe 2016 series at Budapest’s Müpa.

Neither Prokofiev nor Dutilleux is a exactly a failsafe at the box office, and the combination of both - and a rainy afternoon - left quite a few seats unclaimed at last night's Prom by the London Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Valery Gergiev.Which was a shame.

À la Philharmonie, la baguette précise de Thomas Guggeis et le violon virtuose de Michael Barenboim font resplendir les couleurs de Dutilleux et chanter les thèmes de Strauss.

A l'occasion du centenaire de la naissance de Dutilleux, le chef Pascal Rophé et le chorégraphe Robert Swinston collaborent dans un projet original de ballets sur des oeuvres du compositeur. Si l'orchestre est remarquable, la chorégraphie laisse le spectateur sur sa faim.
