No film has portrayed Mozart’s art as sensually as Miloš Forman’s 1984 masterpiece “Amadeus”, which won no less than eight Oscars! Whether lavish balls or breakneck carriage rides, manuscripts brought to life in quiet chambers or musical ecstasy on the grand opera stage: “Amadeus” shows life in all its fullness – and, in the end, the shocking death of the musical genius. Mozart’s stirring story is told in retrospect from the point of view of composer Antonio Salieri, who was brought down by his rival’s genius and therefore struggles with God at the end of his life. In its usual style, the City Light Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Kevin Griffiths, performs Mozart’s works live, such as the dramatically heated Symphony No. 25 in G minor or the touching slow movement of the “Gran Partita”, played by a wind ensemble. Excerpts from choral works such as Mozart’s Mass in C minor or the Requiem are also guaranteed to be performed in excellence thanks to the Zürcher Sing-Akademie.
Ticket sales will open on March 1, 2026.
