Caroline Shaw's compositions converse with the musical past without fear of fresh experiment. Shaw lends her voice in this collaboration performing a selection of songs from her repertoire that embody her fluidity, moving among roles, genres and mediums, imagining a world of sound that has never been heard before but has always existed.

Acclaimed as one of the most outstanding ensembles of the moment, the ATTACCA QUARTET brings their versatility, premiering John Adams latest work in celebration of the composers 80th birthday. The quartet concludes the concert with Mendelssohn’s Quintet in b flat major, with Shaw on the viola, a dramatic piece full of expression and energy.
