Philippe Herreweghe is turning eighty, and Ludwig van Beethoven was born two hundred years ago: this calls for a musical celebration of the two great masters. The Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, Collegium Vocale Gent and Philippe Herreweghe have formed a golden trio for years. This time for a concert in the style of Beethoven’s legendary evenings, featuring several works and premieres in one extended programme. From the elegant First Symphony and the contemplative Mass in C to the exuberant Choral Fantasy: this concert showcases Beethoven in all his glory.
