In a fit of rage and jealousy, Khan Girey’s favorite wife, Zarema, attacks and kills her rival, the Polish girl Maria. Khan Girey tries to soothe his pain by gazing into the Fountain of Tears, the waters of which bring him back to his past – and his memories come to life.
