Often seen as an embodiment of elegance, finesse and sparkling spirit, the flute is not only an irreplaceable voice in an orchestra, but also an irresistible force on the solo platform. 1st Prize Winner of the 2023 Geneva International Music Competition, flautist Elizaveta Ivanova will make her Hong Kong début with Hong Kong Sinfonietta under the baton of Chien Wen-pin, Artistic Director of Weiwuying in Kaohsiung, playing one of the most important works in the flute’s repertoire – German Romantic composer Reinecke’s exquisite Flute Concerto. The concert also features celebrated contemporary composer Dai Fujikura’s Ritual, co-commissioned by the orchestra in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Pierre Boulez’s birth, and the breathtaking Nordic landscapes of Sibelius’ beloved Symphony No 1.
