Ivan Danko, principal oboist of the Staatsorchester Stuttgart, in his work Mythic Dyad: the dwarfish Loktibrada, whose cunning is represented by menacing sounds, and the White Lady from the town of Levoče, who traces her origins to the Hungarian noblewoman Julianna Korponay-Géczy, executed by the Habsburgs. The work was composed for the Littmann Quintet, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The ensemble, augmented by a bass clarinet, will also perform Janáček’s Sextet Mládí, in which the composer evokes both beautiful and dark memories of his childhood, including those difficult school years at the Augustinian monastery. Franz Schubert, on the other hand, spent several years at the Imperial Konvikt in Vienna, where he received a wide range of musical inspiration. Schubert completed his Piano Trio No. 1 in B-flat major, which concludes this concert, in 1828, the year of his death. In particular, the lyrical and sensually resonant moments point to the dawn of the Romantic era.
There will be an introduction 30 minutes before the concert at Mozartsaal.
