Berlin

Berlin has three fine opera houses – Deutsche Oper, Komische Oper and the newly re-opened Unter den Linden where the Berlin Staatsoper perform. The city also enjoys orchestral performances of the Berliner Philharmoniker held in the iconic Philharmonie, further concerts in the stately Konzerthaus and its newest, most impressive venue, the Pierre Boulez Saal, where you may enjoy top calibre recitals, chamber concerts and small ensembles in the round in a beautiful acoustic.

Daniil Trifonov © Dario Acosta | DG
Wunderkind Russian piano virtuosi are no novelty in European concert halls. Artistic seriousness and subtle interpretive skill are a harder sell. Daniil Trifonov, a pianist with intelligent and original interpretations that belie a maturity beyond his tender years, closed his season-long residency at the Berlin Philharmonic with a performance of Scriabin's rarely performed piano concerto.
