Richard Tognetti | Violon, Direction musicale |
Nathan Braude | Alto |
Australian Chamber Orchestra |
Richard Tognetti directs the Australian Chamber Orchestra in a vibrant programme that sweeps from the Baltic to the Barrier Reef.
‘I’ve always loved chamber orchestras’ says Richard Tognetti, and he’s more than a mere music director to the Australian Chamber Orchestra. Each concert is an adventure; tonight they set Mozart and Shostakovich against newly-minted classics from Latvia and Australia.
In many ways, that’s business as usual for ‘musical anarchist’ Tognetti and the ACO: joyously throwing together composers as diverse as Mozart and Roger Smalley, and letting them strike sparks off each other. But be assured: up close in Milton Court, things will heat up. As The Guardian puts it, ‘If there’s a better chamber orchestra in the world I haven’t heard it.’
