A thrilling staging of the Easter story.

Sir Simon Rattle has assembled an extraordinary team for this definitive staging of one of Bach’s great masterpieces, the St John Passion.

First there’s an all-star cast of brilliant singers, including Magdalena Kozena, Mark Padmore and Roderick Williams.

Then he’s brought in celebrated director Peter Sellars to bring it to life on stage– so you see the drama unfurl on stage as well as hear it.

Bach’s musical setting of the crucifixtion of Christ is full of colour and emotional depth.  More intense than its sister piece, the St Matthew Passion, it combines high drama and challenging introspection with some of the intense and experimental music Bach ever wrote.
