The RCM International Opera School once again offers up an entertaining and tuneful comic opera for the summer season.

RCM alumnus Benjamin Britten’s tale of Albert Herring portrays the loss of innocence as Albert, the greengrocer’s shy and virtuous son, is chosen as the local May King and finds himself on a journey of discovery. To direct this production, we are delighted to announce the return of Liam Steel, director of the hugely successful 2010 production of Orpheus in the Underworld. Our very own vocal professor Janis Kelly will appear in the role of Lady Billows alongside star singers from the RCM.

'I’ve rarely seen a cast enjoy themselves so much… Steel conjured a performance of terrific vivacity and energy from the RCM students.'

- Anna Picard, Independent on Sunday on Orpheus in the Underworld
