Opening the Canadian part of the tour is the piano virtuoso Daniil Trifonov, the Czech Philharmonic’s artist-in-residence for its 129th season. He will play Dvořák’s Piano Concerto. Toronto will then hear the first half of Smetana’s cycle Má vlast, which chief conductor Semyon Bychkov recently recorded with the orchestra. Together they will give a musical recitation of the symphonic poems Vyšehrad, Vltava, and Šárka.
