Haydn wrote two if not all three of his last piano sonatas for Therese Bartolozzi, née Jansen, a gifted pianist and dancing master’s daughter. He also dedicated a collection of three piano trios to her. Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, renowned for what The Observer called his ‘effervescent and dazzling’ interpretations of the composer’s keyboard works, is joined by two outstanding chamber musicians, principal players with Manchester Camerata, in a thrilling programme complete with two 21st-century responses to the name of Haydn.
