This concert brings together two of Vienna’s most significant musical residents from very different eras.

Mozart’s C major Concerto is one of the largest of his 27 works in this form: a grand, celebratory creation that overflows with inspiration and joy.

Bringing the evening to a close, No.27 is a more introverted and tender work, its last movement based on Mozart’s song ‘Komm, lieber Mai’ (Longing for Spring).

The two concertos bookend Schoenberg’s Chamber Symphony No.1, which was heralded by the composer himself as a ‘true turning point’ in his style.

This concert continues an ongoing collaboration on the music of Mozart and the Second Viennese School between Uchida and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, a unique ensemble of 45 musicians from 20 countries.
