Après une première partie de concert un peu déroutante en compagnie de Mitsuko Uchida, le chef finlandais et son orchestre ont livré une version d'anthologie du chef-d'œuvre de Berlioz.

Dans le Concerto de Robert Schumann, la pianiste britannique privilégie la tendresse et l'intimité aux élans et à la fébrilité. Le LSO rend ensuite justice à la mal-aimée Symphonie n° 3 de Rachmaninov.

En première partie, Mitsuko Uchida livrait une interprétation captivante, quoique maniérée, du 3ème Concerto de Beethoven.
