At the helm of the Geneva Chamber Orchestra and the Ensemble Vocal de Lausanne, Daniel Reuss has chosen two pieces by Mozart that could almost be termed romantic.
The Dutch-German conductor, known for his exactitude and the precision of his phrasing, will perform the famed Symphony No. 40, a piece where tragic, impassioned accents rival the ground-breaking sonority of the wind instruments as they take centre stage.
A quartet of solo singers will then join the Swiss choir and instrumentalists as they launch into the Great Mass in C Minor, a vast, Handel-inspired epic that embodies the noble and spiritual breath of a composer transported by the sublime.
