Variations on the themes of war and peace are provided by a group of choral, vocal and instrumental pieces. Dona Nobis Pacem weaves poems by Walt Whitman with texts from Christian liturgy and the Bible into a musical plea for future peace, whilst Some Corner of a Foreign Field, composed for Dulwich College to mark the centenary of the First World War, culminates in a setting of Rupert Brooke’s haunting 1914 poem The Soldier.
