Wim Vandekeybus | Chorégraphie |
‘Vandekeybus’s dances combine startling and often extreme imagery with highly physical and dangerous-looking movement that is almost as exhausting for the audience to watch as it is for the dancers to perform’ Financial Times
Witches, magicians, demons. You find them in every culture, but they always signify something different.
An inspiration and collaborator of Guest Director Hofesh Shechter, choreographer Wim Vanderkeybus relishes taking his audiences of both his live and filmed works on a wild ride. Through tense and strident choreography that plays with light and dark, percussion and silence, he'll leave you with your heart racing.
Not afraid to face up to difficult topics, Talk to the Demon ponders the innocence of children and the multifaceted ways it is understood, presented and manipulated by society and the media in different cultures. As he probes notions of innocence and evil, Vandekeybus’s research into the witch-children of the Congo is just one of the starting points for a dance dissection of demons and demonising, ideals and idealising.
