The Metropolitan Opera premieres Florencia en el Amazonas by Mexican composer Daniel Catán in an eye-catching, warm production by Mary Zimmerman. 

Matthew Aucoin’s Eurydice enjoys its world premiere at LA Opera. 

The Metropolitan Opera's new produdtion of Rusalka fails to explore a deeper complexity of the fairy tale, although a strong ensemble of singers and the superb Met Orchestra make it a musically compelling performance.

The Met's revival of Lucia di Lammermoor was a collaborative success, with singers, orchestra and chorus cohering well.  

This year’s revival of Mary Zimmerman’s La Sonnambula at the Met requires too much suspension of disbelief to seriously work, but it provides a fun and vibrant take on Bellini’s bel canto opera all the same. In the title role, Diana Damrau knocked it out of the park.
