Condensed into two acts, Marina Kesler's Anna Karenina for Estonian National Ballet is packed with dance and makes a very satisfying ballet evening.

Stephen Barlow's intelligent production makes Gounod's grand opéra as dramatic as it is tuneful.

At the Estonian National Opera, Vilppu Kiljunen's staging of Hindemith's crime opera Cardillac is wonderfully eerie. Unfortunately, conductor Vello Pähn's reading of the score doesn't do it justice.
