Since its reopening in 2004, the Lille Opera has established itself as a leading opera venue on a national scale. A public cultural cooperation establishment (EPCC) supported by the City of Lille, the European Metropolis of Lille, the Hauts-de-France region, and the Ministry of Culture (DRAC Hauts-de-France), it implements, under the leadership of its director Barbara Eckle, a project whose primary ambition is openness: openness to all repertoires, openness to current creative aesthetics and emerging artists, openness to all audiences, openness to all territories within the region and beyond, etc. Season after season, the project brings together a broad audience around an original and demanding program, anchoring opera, dance, and the messages they convey in the imagination of an ever-growing and attentive public.
The Opera has three spaces where they hold various events: Grande Salle (which contains 1128 seats); Grand Foyer (which can contain 400 people standing or 200 people seating) and the Rotonde (which can contain 100 people standing or 60 people seating). There is no dress code for the venue, but please note that there is no air conditioning in the Hall.
