Oeuvre: Berenice, regina d'Egitto

One of Handel's lesser operas receives a deluxe concert performance at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris, with Il Pomo d'Oro and a fine array of singers. 

Visual eye candy, excellent singing and superb Handelian playing by Laurence Cummings and the London Handel Orchestra are marred by poor diction and limited acting expressivity.

A post post-modern production of Berenice threw distraction upon distraction at the audience, but was saved by good singing and orchestral playing.
