Considered by Verdi to be his greatest work, this extraordinary, heart-wrenching love story features some of the best-known music in operatic repertoire.

While hosting a lavish party, the famed courtesan Violetta falls in love with Alfredo and they escape Paris together. As they struggle for money in the countryside, Alfredo’s father attempts to separate the lovers, setting them on a path to tragedy.

Conducted by Thomas Blunt, this new production of Verdi’s moving tale of society and morality is the Longborough debut of director Daisy Evans.

Sung in Italian with English surtitles.

Part of Longborough's 2018 season, which also includes Wagner's Der fliegende Holländer, Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos, and Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea.
