A brilliant carnival opera by one of the most popular composers in history – it’s incredible to think that Vivaldi’s L’Oracolo in Messenia received its second performance only in 2011, after being rediscovered and reconstructed by Fabio Biondi. Biondi’s award-winning recording has been described by the Guardian as ‘ witty, sexy and full of pathos’; with a hand-picked cast and Biondi’s own Europa Galante accompanying, this should be revelatory.
