These two Manchester-based choirs formed a formidable partnership for one of the most gruelling choral works in the repertoire. The four soloists, however distinguished as individuals, produced mixed results.

For the opening concert of the 2015-2016 season, the Musikkollegium Winterthur drew together an unusual mix of repertoire: Felix Mendelssohn and Fazil Say.

Zurich’s Opera House takes on Die Frau ohne Schatten, one of Richard Strauss’ most convoluted and technically demanding works. 

It’s not often that operas in English get performed in Germany, and so I was somewhat surprised to see such a large and important company as the Berliner Staatsoper taking on Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress.
