Performer: Enguerrand de Hys

Excellent performances and stage direction make a good case for an opera that's on the slow side dramatically.

Àlex Ollé directs a rare version of Idoménée in Berlin, in which the staging fares better than the singing.

Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne tragédie lyrique – simply staged in the compact, antique space of the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord – made for gripping drama. 

Le metteur en scène imagine une mise en abyme qui montre ses limites. Sur le plan musical c'est en revanche une réussite, de Nathalie Stutzmann à la baguette à Stéphanie d'Oustrac dans le rôle-titre.
