Under guest director Lorenza Borrani a subdued ACO offers a programme of arrangements of Prokofiev and Beethoven sandwiching a new work by Dobrinka Tabakova.

In a thoroughly riveting recital at the Concertgebouw, soprano Anna Prohaska probes Ophelia’s psyche through songs from the nineteenth century onwards.

Now this is how you put together a program of contrasts! Members of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, on this night anchored by the presence of Pierre-Laurent Aimard, led us through a series of wild, compact, adventurous, and sometimes severe works by Bartók, Janáček, and Ligeti, before turning after the intermission to – what else? – Mozart’s G major Piano Concerto, K453.

Sans véritablement « diriger » l'orchestre (à l'exception des six minutes de Webern), la violoniste italienne entraîne les musiciens dans un même art du discours mozartien.

L'Orchestre de Chambre d'Europe et András Schiff se retrouvent à la Philharmonie autour de la Musique pour cordes, percussions et célesta de Bartók et du Concerto pour piano n°2 de Brahms. Un orchestre excellent, mais un pianiste qui semble avoir mal choisi son concerto.
