Work: Horn Concerto no. 2 in E flat major, K417

Franz Welser-Möst made for great dissatisfaction in his postponed debut with the RCO. However, before the intermission in Mozart’s Second Horn Concerto, Laurens Woudenberg offered a remarkable solo.

There was a sense of celebration in the air at the Sage Gateshead, as the Northern Sinfonia orchestra and chorus began their tenth season under the direction of Thomas Zehetmair with an all-Mozart programme. The hall was full, and before welcoming Zehetmair to the stage, Sage General Director Anthony Sargent had a bit of fun showing off Hall One’s fancy new multi-coloured lighting effects.

Wenig klassisch Weihnachtliches, dafür viel Mozart und am Ende doch noch festliche Stimmung erwartete die Besucher der Schlittenfahrt des recreation - großes Orchester Graz.
